Dame Ekwegbalu would be making a presentation on “Innovative and concrete approaches to enhance partnership between USA and Nigeria in the areas of Agriculture and Industry”
She’s one of the most accomplished female journalists in Nigeria and a lawyer, Dame Unoaku Ekwegbalu has enjoyed a rich and distinguished professional career spanning the Print/Electronic media, as well as the legal profession.
She is a product of some Nigeria’s most distinguished educational institutions, having attended Girls Secondary School, Ibiaku in present-day Akwa Ibom State for her secondary education before proceeding to the University of Lagos and University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Enugu campuses from where she variously bagged degrees in Mass Communication and Law.
She has held various positions in the Anambra State government, having served in three different administrations, the most recent of which was as Senior Special Intergovernmental Matters from 2006-2007.
Mrs. Ekwegbalu has also contributed richly to the Nigerian socio-political environment, particularly with her publications, active participation in key development initiatives and support for various democratic institutions. Her well-received book “Triumph of the Rule of Law” is, to date, the only published work of its kind on the groundbreaking Supreme Court judgement on the Governorship elections in Anambra State.
Dame Ekwegbalu has variously served as the founding president of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State chapter and National Publicity Secretary of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA).
Dame Ekwegbalu was listed among the first “Who is Who in Nigeria” published by Newswatch magazine, in recognition of her contributions to the journalism profession.
